Anti-aging Facial Treatments - stay forever young

Anti-aging Facial Treatments – Anti-aging Facial treatments can help to prevent acne, dry skin and wrinkles.Managing your skin throughout your life is an important factor for all women and men.  When we are young, we are taught that a smooth, even-toned complexion is a sign of health and beauty.  Unfortunately, the effects of our environment and over exposure to sun prematurely age us and take away that healthy glow from our youth.  Getting a basic understanding for maintaining your skin by different skin care products and anti-aging treatments all help to contribute to healthy-looking skin.  Home skin care and Aesthetician services give the maximum benefits to anyone who is concerned with anti-aging facial strategies.

Home skin care and anti-aging

Home skin care is key to maintaining the deep cleansing treatments done by an Aesthetician.  CertainAnti-aging Treatments – Anti-aging Facial Treatments can include Glycolic Acid, which is great for rough, sun damaged skin and may help hyper-pigmentation. skin care products are available to those who are interested in eliminating and softening wrinkles to achieve a more youthful appearance.  Alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), which include Glycolic and Lactic acids, help to eliminate rough or dry skin by sloughing off dead skin cells and helping to increase cell-turnover.  Retin-A, which is a Vitamin A derivative, helps change the cellular metabolism of the skin and softens fine lines and wrinkles, as well as minimizes mild hyper-pigmentation.

To repeat, the use of AHAs and Retin-A can help to enhance your appearance, smooth out fine lines and minimize hyper-pigmentation.  Unfortunately, these topical solutions will not remove scarring, deep wrinkles or severe hyper-pigmentation.  These treatments will offer less dramatic results over time than would deep chemical peels, dermabrasion or face lifts.

Retin-A

Retin-A may also be prescribed for younger patients or those who suffer from acne and acne-prone skin.  Younger women who are beginning to show signs of aging and sun-damage are also using Retin-A creams to help minimize and slow down the aging process.  Retin-A is NOT recommended for pregnant or lactating women due to the fact that it can cause harm to the fetus and baby.

Retin-A must be monitored by a physician or Aesthetician because it causes skin sensitivity and redness.  If these conditions are persistent, your physician or skin care specialist may reduce the dose to a milder formula.  Only a pea-sized amount of Retin-A is to be applied each time.  Retin-A is only to be used at night because it causes photosensitivity.  Make sure to wash your face in the morning.  You also must be protecting your skin from the sun daily by wearing a sun block with a minimum SPF of 30.  Retin-A causes the skin to become more sensitive to the sun due to the decreased top layer of dead skin cells.

Results of using Retin-A vary, depending on each patient and their skin care needs.  By continuing Retin-A, your skin will show signs of improvement in both texture and tone of the skin.  After the initial irritation and redness subside, you will notice wrinkles are less noticeable and pore size has begun to shrink.  Some patients notice their hyper-pigmentation begins to fade.

Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (AHAs)

Anti-aging Facial Treatments – Anti-aging Facial Treatments include cleansing, steam to open pores, massage of the face and neck and a facial mask. The most commonly used of the AHAs is Glycolic acid which has the best effects for treatment of anti-aging.  Glycolic acid works best on patients with rough, sun-damaged skin and may help to improve hyper-pigmentation.  Glycolic acid cannot be used by all skin types, especially those who have darker melanin in the skin tones.  For these patients, we suggest Lactic acid products.  Patients may suffer from mild skin irritation and redness, which then means the product should be lessened and/or used less often.

AHAs come in different forms, for example, it may be used in either a facial cleanser or facial moisturizing cream.  Both forms contain enough of the product to slough off dead skin cells.  Moisturizers are highly recommended when using AHAs on the skin, as well as daily sun block with a minimum SPF of 30.  Unlike Retin-A, AHAs can be used twice daily, in either a facial cleanser or cream formula, in addition to applying sun block.

Results using AHAs vary, depending on each patient.  Once the initial irritation and redness subside, you will begin to notice improvement in the skin’s tone and texture as well as overall smoothness to the skin.  Some patients notice improvement within 6 weeks, while in other patients, it can take up to 6 months.

Anti-Aging Facial Treatments

Our skin is our largest organ, which performs several functions, from protecting us from foreign substances to transferring toxins from our bodies.  Facials are deep cleansing treatments to cleanse, rehydrate and rejuvenate.  Facials help to prevent acne, dry skin and wrinkles.

Facial procedures include cleansing, steam to open pores, massage of the face and neck and a facial mask.  The massage helps prevent aging by relaxing the skin to temporarily smooth facial wrinkles, improve blood circulation, and aid in lymphatic drainage of the face (to help reduce puffiness, decrease redness and remove toxins from the body).

Facial steam is important in all facial treatments not only to open the pores and aid in extractions, but also to help the skin absorb treatment creams and facial masks.  Facial masks end the treatment by helping to tone and clarify the skin.  Masks are usually customized to fit each patient’s skin care needs.

It is important to maintain this regimen every 6 – 8  weeks for optimal results.

Our Aestheticians recommend a few products specifically designed to help prevent aging:

Anti-Aging Eye Cream:  This cream is designed to improve the appearance of fine lines, puffiness, eyelid wrinkling, and under-eye circles.

Facial Moisturizing Cream:  This cream is specifically designed for those suffering from dry skin as well as those who need additional moisture added your skin.  Specifically designed for sensitive skin, the cream is hypoallergenic and fragrance-free.

Sun Block Protection:  Sun block is the best anti-aging cream known for improving fine lines, wrinkles and hyper-pigmentation.  This broad-spectrum cream containing SPF 30 is hypoallergenic, fragrance-free and does not feel oily or greasy.  This is meant to be worn daily even during the cloudy, winter months.
