The first step in caring for oily skin is to understand and recognize some of the reasons it may be caused. Oily skin can be genetically caused from hormones and you can’t control hormones with topical treatments. The second step is to take a look at your normal skin care routine. Products that are harsh can also be the cause even though they might seem like a good idea. These types of products strip away all of the bad oils but also the good oils. Products that dry out your skin can cause your skin to want to excrete more oil to compensate for the dryness. Even though you may be oily, moisturizing products can sometimes help.
Steps for a good skin care routine include cleansing twice a day. Exfoliating should be minimal and nothing to abrasive and exfoliating your face about three times a week at a maximum. The next step is to tone. Toners are alcohol-based and are used to wipe away dirt that your cleanser left behind. The final step is to moisturize which is very important even if you have oily skin. Try a lighter face cream and something that is not so heavy. Of course you should go see your doctor as they would be able to help you further.
There have been some studies that have shown that there are many health benefits to drinking wine in moderation. No one is telling people to overdrink or become alcoholics however. Some research shows that moderate wine drinkers are 30% less likely to have a heart attack than nondrinkers. Red wine contains procyanidins which can protect against heart disease. There are some other studies showing some benefits. A study in Iceland, published in Nature 2003 of 1,379 people had shown that 32% of people are less likely to have cataracts. Another benefit shown by the Stony Brook University was wine cutting the risk of colon cancer by 45% shown in 2,291 people over a four year period. A Columbia University study also showed that moderate wine drinking can slow down brain decline. Everyone should discuss with their doctor the possibility of taking a glass of wine a day to see if this might be an option for them.
