Health Supplement

In this day and age, more health problems are on the rise.  Technology has gotten better, but our illnesses are increasing each year.  People want to understand why.  Some believe that our fruits and vegetables are being poisoned with Pesticides.  Others believe that the meat and dairy we consume is pumped full of Hormones to produce more in a smaller amount of time.  Some believe that all the processed foods due to eating away from home more or less time at home to cook a “healthy meal”.  If this is true and we are continuously ingesting these so-called toxins, no wonder why people are getting more life-threatening illnesses each year.

Health Supplements are beginning to make a huge statement in our society.  More people are going back to the way our ancestors lived, holistically and organically.  There are more Alternative Physicians and Wellness centers to focus on the well-being of an individual and heal their illnesses without the use of Antibiotics.  In the Wellness-state of health, health supplements are highly recommended for daily use.  Several common health supplements will be discussed later, but their uses are many and some health supplements can prevent or minimize effects of certain illness and health conditions.

Some people take health supplements daily.  Health supplements are different than over-the-counter drugs or antibiotics because they are not meant to heal.  Health supplements are meant to prevent or minimize illness.  More physicians are studying the use of health supplements and health conditions along with antibiotics or medical treatments alone.  Some health supplements can minimize the negative effects of antibiotics but some can cause harm when interfering with antibiotics or prescribed medications.  For example, St. John’s Wort, an herb that helps with Depression, prevents the effectiveness of Birth Control Pills and can cause an unwanted pregnancy.  It is also recommended that you watch your intake of health supplements because over-consumption of certain health supplements can cause more harm than good.

Unfortunately, eating a diet full of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fiber and protein is just not enough anymore.  Due to our over-producing soils, our food does not get the nutrients our ancestors once did.  Most Americans are nutrient-deficient, which is why daily consumption of health supplements is suggested.   There are many different types of herbs and herbal supplements to choose from.  When in doubt, begin with an antioxidant-type or a Multi-vitamin.  These health supplements offer a variety of different health supplements in one pill form.

Some common health supplements include:

Vitamin E:  This is a fat-soluble health supplement that helps to protect your cells against free radical damage.  Free radicals can damage cells and may contribute to certain cancers and cardiovascular disease.  The health supplement for Vitamin E should be a minimum of 30 IUs (International Units) daily.

Vitamin C:  This is a water-soluble health supplements that acts as an antioxidant.  Vitamin C is helpful in collagen, bones, cartilage, muscle and blood vessels.  Vitamin C works best as an herbal supplement when taken along with Vitamin E.

Ginko Biloba: This is one of the oldest known herbal health supplements and is one of the most researched herbs in the world.  Ginko works by increasing blood flow from the brain and throughout the body, as well as helping to fight free-radical damage.

Bee Pollen:  This health supplement remedy has been around for centuries, but is now beginning to become more popular as an herbal supplement in America.  Bee pollen is known as nature’s perfect food because it is very rich in vitamins, minerals, trace elements, enzymes and amino acids.  This helps to repair a damaged immune system, provide energy and combat free-radical damage.

Milk Thistle:  This is one of the oldest health supplement remedies for fighting Liver damage and maintaining normal liver function.  This herbal supplement works by altering the liver cells membrane structure by blocking toxins from entering.

Aloe Vera:  This herbal health supplement has been used since the ancient Egyptians recorded its ability to treat burns, infections and parasites.  The Aloe plant is about 95% water.  The remainder of the plant is concentrated in essential oils, amino acids, minerals, vitamins and enzymes.  Taken as an herbal supplement, Aloe Vera aids in digestion as well as lymphatic and blood circulation.

Echinacea:  When taken as an herbal health supplement, it is known to help fight against the Flu, herpes and helps to control the symptoms of a cold.  Echinacea is known for stimulating the immune system.  Its use is not recommended on a regular basis because your body can build up immunity to the herbal supplement.

Green Tea:  This herbal health supplement has been used in China for thousands of years in medicine and medicinal purposes.  Green tea has antioxidant properties and helps fight free radical damage.  Even though it contains Caffeine, it is a small amount and its health benefits outweigh the effects of caffeine.
