Tummy Tuck Surgery in Chicago
There are various factors that cause the appearance of a protruding abdomen and loose, excess skin in the midsection – pregnancy, massive weight loss, and/or aging. Although you may follow a healthy diet and maintain a regular exercise routine, the weakened muscles may not return to their original form. At the practice of Sam Speron, M.D., F.A.C.S., Park Ridge Plastic Surgery near Chicago, tummy tuck surgery is a frequently body contouring procedure. Dedicated to patient safety, Dr. Speron utilizes the latest techniques for optimal results.
Tummy Tuck Surgery
During a consultation with Dr. Speron, the tummy tuck procedure (“abdominoplasty”) is explained in detail, a thorough examination is performed, and your questions/concerns are addressed. Typically, this procedure is performed through a long incision in the lower abdomen from hipbone to hipbone. The skin is separated from the underlying muscles in order to tighten and flatten the abdominal muscles. Dr. Speron will then pull the skin down, trim away any excess, and make a new opening for the belly button. In most abdominoplasty procedures, liposuction is combined in order to produce a more slender shape.
Based on the amount of excess skin and severity of stretched muscles, a varied technique may be performed; this includes the mini tummy tuck, extended abdominoplasty, or the circumferential tummy tuck. In addition, Dr. Speron also performs endoscopic abdominoplasty and a non-surgical method using a laser to tighten the skin. The most appropriate technique will be determined during your visit with our tummy tuck surgeon in Park Ridge.
