Winter Fruit That Will Help Pamper Your Skin For Valentine’s Day!
The holiday season is officially behind us and so are some of the
unhealthy habits we tend to pick up around that time of year.
Unfortunately, our skin may still be suffering from all the sugar,
wine, heavy meals and stress we exposed ourselves to. With Valentine’s
Day just around the corner, we can provide you with some great all
natural tips to help get your skin back to its normal self just in
time for the romantic holiday!
Due to containing an immense amount of essential vitamins, citrus
fruits are known for their beneficial skin care properties. Vitamin C
is especially known for increasing skin elasticity and reducing free
radical damage. Luckily, there are some great citrus fruits we can use
that are in season during the wintertime - mandarins, grapefruits and
We recommend mixing a tablespoon of the juice from the fruit with some
other natural ingredients that are also known for healthy skin
properties (honey, milk, oatmeal, yogurt, egg whites, or avocado) in
order to create a nice pasty consistency for a facial mask. Make sure
to leave the mask on for at least twenty minutes and try to apply it
at least three times a week.
Not only do these fruits help boost our immune systems and stave off
colds but they can help improve your skin for big events such as that
all important Valentine’s Day date!

Vitamin B12 may help sharpen your memory!
Feeling forgetful lately? Vitamin B12 may help sharpen your memory!
Hearing expressions such as “I have a terrible memory”, “It completely
slipped my mind” or “I feel like I’m forgetting something” are
commonplace, especially when amongst busy adults. However, there could
be other factors affecting our minds that don’t include the fact that
our schedules are packed.
There has been much research in recent years that suggests a link
between Vitamin B12 deficiencies with memory loss, feelings of
confusion, issues with thinking, and lower brain volume. Vitamin B12
is mostly found in animal products such as meats, fish, poultry, dairy
products and eggs. It is recommended to consume at least 2.4
micrograms of B12 a day.
Vitamin B12 deficiencies are most common in vegetarians, vegans and
older adults. The reasons include the body’s decreasing ability to absorb Vitamin B12 from foods as we age. Taking a daily supplement of
B12 will help anyone at risk for low levels get their adequate daily

Rejuvenate Your Skin This Winter With A Fotofacial
A great way to liven up your skin during the colder and drier months
is with a rejuvenating foto facial treatment! Foto facial treatments
are known for reducing fine lines, shallow acne scars, age spots,
large pores, pigmented lesions, broken blood vessels, rosacea and
reversing sun damage. The treatment also stimulates collagen, which is
located in the dermis, and gives our face its structure and shape. As
we age, we lose collagen, but this treatment stimulates fibroblasts in
the dermis which give us some of this “collagen cushion” back.
A foto facial treatment at our office employs a Syneron laser that
uses pulsed light optical energy coupled with radio-frequency energy
that causes the collagen and blood vessels to beneath the epidermis to
tighten. The combined energies result in a more safe and more
effective treatment. Best of all, there is no downtime! This patented
laser technology is called Elos.
Foto facial procedures can be used anywhere but are most common on the
face, hands, neck, chest and arms. For best results – a series of at
least five treatments is usually recommended.

You can also visit the ASPS web site at www.plasticsurgery.org. The ASPS is the only one of the 24 boards approved by the American Board of Medical Specialties that certifies physicians in plastic surgery of the face and all areas of the body. When considering a cosmetic surgeon, you should also make sure your surgeon is a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS). A call to ASAPS (1-888-272-7711) or visiting the ASAPS website (www.plasticsurgery.org) can help you verify your plastic surgeons membership.
