Do not forget the most important part of the cleansing process – exfoliation!

As you age, your skin cell renewal process slows down. Normal skin cells divide moving up to the surface at various rates. Exfoliation keeps the cell regeneration process moving at a quicker pace giving you a more youthful glow. By removing the dead layers of the skin, products can work more effectively by penetrating into the new cells versus the layer of dead skin cells. Ultimately, the skin functions better. Other benefits of exfoliation include:

  • Smoother and softer texture
  • Clears congestion

  • Detoxifies
  • Creates a moist healthy glow

Exfoliation is an important step in the cleansing process and should not be forgotten. You should include it after you cleanse two to three times a week. Abrasives (granular based products), enzymes (papain or papaya), or acids (Alpha Hydroxy or Beta Hydroxy) are all forms of exfoliators. For a professional exfoliation, microdermabrasion and chemical peels are excellent treatments to remove the layer of dead skin cells and accelerate your skin’s renewal process.
