Skin Care Tip:

How To Determine Your Skin Type

There’s a large selection of skincare products and treatments out there with the sole purpose of keeping your skin looking flawless and healthy. However, it is important that you are choosing products that pertain to your individual skin type so you are not creating any damage to it.

Normal: Normal skin types have a good balance between being oily or dry. People with a normal skin type are distinguishable by their clear, smooth, and even skin tone that typically has good elasticity.

Dry: Dry skin does not retain enough moisture and tends to wrinkle or develop fine lines easily. Dry skin is also more easily affected by pollution, UV rays and extreme weather.

Oily: Oily skin types typically have large pores and produce much oil which may lead to a greasy appearance.

Combination: Combination skin types have both dry and oily areas. Oily areas tend to be in the t-zone (forehead and nose) while dry areas are around the cheeks and eyes.

Sensitive: The sensitive skin type tends to burn easily and is more prone to irritation, inflammation or redness.

When choosing your products, make sure you are reading the labels in order to ensure you will use the best products for your skin type.

Anti-Aging Tip:

Processed Foods May Be Aging You!

Did you know that consuming processed foods could be speeding up the aging process? It’s hard to avoid them, they’re convenient and they’re everywhere! Examples of processed foods include white flour, refined sugars, canned foods, margarine, soda and frozen foods. Processed foods contain added hormones, preservatives and additives with the intention of lengthening the shelf life. However, when foods go through processing they tend to lose much of the nutritional value that our bodies need to stay healthy and young. Additionally, phosphates in processed foods tend to raise the phosphorous levels in our body which contributes to an accelerated aging process. Implementing a diet of clean, whole and nutritious foods will not only slow down aging but also fight heart disease, cancer, obesity, diabetes and stroke

Plastic Surgery Tip:

Chicago Breast Augmentation Surgery!

Breast Enlargement Surgery, also known as Augmentation Mammoplasty, enhances the size and shape of a woman’s breasts. During surgery, your board-certified plastic surgeon will usually place the implant behind the muscle, to give your breast a more natural appearance. Now that silicone implants have been approved by the FDA, you can choose between saline and silicone implants. The most common reasons why women choose Breast Enlargement surgery is to enhance the body contour of a woman’s breasts, because of size. Other reasons are to correct uneven breast size or shape, or to add more volume after pregnancy.

Make sure you chose a board certified plastic surgeon. A call to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons or ASPS at 1-888-4-PLASTIC (ie. 1-888-475-2784) can tell you which doctors are legitimate plastic surgeons with outstanding qualifications. You can also visit the ASPS web site at www.plasticsurgery.org. The ASPS is the only one of the 24 boards approved by the American Board of Medical Specialties that certifies physicians in plastic surgery of the face and all areas of the body. When considering a cosmetic surgeon, you should also make sure your surgeon is a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS). A call to ASAPS (1-888-272-7711) or visiting the ASAPS website ( www.plasticsurgery.org) can help you verify your plastic surgeons membership.
