Skin Care Tip:

How To Take Care Of Your Skin In The Wintertime

It’s official! We are smack dab into the winter season and back to dealing with snow, the bitter cold, and wind. Unfortunately for us Midwesterners, these weather conditions can wreak havoc on our skin. It is important to remember that the skincare routines we were using in the warmer months may not be as helpful for us during the colder ones. Here are some tips on how to maintain your healthy skin throughout this winter season:

  • Stay Hydrated
  • Moisturize
  • Avoid Long Hot Showers Or Baths
  • Exfoliate
  • Use Gentle Cleansers Instead Of Soap
  • Consider Using A Humidifier
  • Don’t Forget To Take Care Of Your Hands & Feet With Lotions And Moisturizers
  • Avoid Using Harsh Peels
  • Don’t Forget To Continue Applying Sunscreen
  • Consider Seeing A Skin Care Specialist To Personalize Your Routine

Anti-Aging Tip:

Centenarian Tips On Living A Long & Healthy Life!

There is an exorbitant amount of information out there about longevity and healthy living. Sometimes the information can be conflicting and cause confusion as to whether or not we are doing the right things to lead long and healthy lives. However, great sources to follow for anti-aging recommendations are centenarians, people who have made it to their 100th birthday and up! Centenarians from all over the world seem to offer similar tips on how they reached the century birthday milestone and still lead seemingly healthy and independent lives. For instance, many centenarians have diets high in fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, and lean meats which are mostly from fish. They also typically avoid red meat and processed foods. Drinking alcohol in moderation is another common trend among centenarians. Exercise, such as yoga or daily walks, is not surprisingly a habit that many centenarians have established for many years. This could be because it lowers the risk of many diseases that the older population has a higher risk of getting such as heart disease and various cancers. Keeping a close social circle of friends and family has also been a common theme for those who make it to their 100th birthday. As for personality traits? Going with the flow, keeping a sense of humor, and a positive outlook on life are all characteristic of many centenarians!

Plastic Surgery Tip:

Chicago Abdominoplasty Surgery!

A flat and well toned abdomen is something many of us strive for through exercise and weight control. Regardless of effort, sometimes these methods cannot adequately achieve our goals. If you desire a tighter, flatter abdomen, then a tummy tuck may be appropriate for you. In general, a tummy tuck removes excess fat and skin, and in some cases restores weakened or separated muscles. This creates and abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer, often enhancing your body image, confidence and self esteem.

Make sure you chose a board certified plastic surgeon. A call to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons or ASPS at 1-888-4-PLASTIC (ie. 1-888-475-2784) can tell you which doctors are legitimate plastic surgeons with outstanding qualifications. You can also visit the ASPS web site at www.plasticsurgery.org. The ASPS is the only one of the 24 boards approved by the American Board of Medical Specialties that certifies physicians in plastic surgery of the face and all areas of the body. When considering a cosmetic surgeon, you should also make sure your surgeon is a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS). A call to ASAPS (1-888-272-7711) or visiting the ASAPS website ( www.plasticsurgery.org) can help you verify your plastic surgeons membership.
