Skin Care Tip:

Mineral makeup works best!

Wondering what all the craze about mineral makeup is? Many people find out about mineral makeup when they want to go “green” with their cosmetics. With the current interest in safe, natural and organic products, the mineral makeup approach is very popular, and the category appears to be continuing to grow.

Minerals such as iron oxides, talc, zinc oxide, and titanium dioxide are micronized, or ground and milled, into tiny particles to create mineral makeup. Mineral makeup micronized up to six times leave minerals larger so they can go on the skin with light to medium coverage. Products micronized 12 times create fine sized particles that sit closer together and offer more coverage.

If you suffer from skin sensitivity, mineral makeup may be a good option for you. However, you will need to be a savvy consumer and look at the list of ingredients to make sure you are getting 100% mineral makeup. The general rule of thumb is the less ingredients the better. Mineral makeup is no magic bullet and won’t solve all your skin issues. For many women, traditional makeup works well and often gives you more of a flawless face then mineral makeup. The powder in mineral makeup absorbs oil in your skin causing the color to appear slightly darker and clumpy.

Anti-Aging Tip:

Food can help you look younger!

We all love to feel and look younger that’s why we go to spas, gyms and use beauty products to help our body look and feel younger. The easiest way to help improve your health and look on the inside as well as the outside is to incorporate foods that are rich in anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties.

Four foods that help fight aging are non-processed oatmeal packed with amino acids and vitamin E, which help nourish your skin. Grapefruit is a great source of vitamin C and also promotes collagen growth while preventing the skin from sagging. Walnuts are filled with omega-3 fatty acids that increase the moisture levels in your skin and help plump up wrinkles. Finally, berries are great for your skin the darker ones being best as they have the highest concentration of antioxidants and are filled with vitamin C.

Try adding these great super foods to your everyday diet and eat your way to a more healthy beautiful you.

Plastic Surgery Tip:

Chicago MIgraine Botox Treatments

When you think of Botox, the first thing that you think of is wrinkles but did you know that Botox is also a great way to treat migraines.

Botox treatments for migraines are typically given once every 3-6 months. The doctor will inject multiple doses of the medicine in specific points along the bridge of the nose, temples, forehead, back of the head, neck, and upper back. The injections are almost painless and you might experience a very small sting at each injection. The process is very quick, each session lasts about 10 to 15 minutes. The goal of the injections is to reduce the symptoms caused by a migraine headache.

It may take up to 14 days for you to feel relief. Some people may not experience complete relief with their first set of injections. Additional treatments are sometimes more successful.

Botox is one of many treatment options available for people with chronic migraines. Before beginning any kind of treatments always consult with your physician.

You can also visit the ASPS web site at www.plasticsurgery.org. The ASPS is the only one of the 24 boards approved by the American Board of Medical Specialties that certifies physicians in plastic surgery of the face and all areas of the body. When considering a cosmetic surgeon, you should also make sure your surgeon is a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS). A call to ASAPS (1-888-272-7711) or visiting the ASAPS website (www.plasticsurgery.org) can help you verify your plastic surgeons membership
