Skin Care Tip:

Nourish your skin from head to toe!

When most people think about skin care they think about products geared towards your face. What is forgotten is that your skin on your body is just as important as the skin on your face. To treat your entire body you can use a hydrating or toning body wash, an exfoliating body scrub and a hydrating body lotion on a regular basis. Now is the perfect time to start since your skin may be dry and dehydrated after your summer in the sun. A nice body treatment may be exactly what you need to jump start your skin into your new skin care regimen. Body treatments are essentially a facial for your whole body. Indulge yourself.

The most popular body treatment is a salt glow or sea-salt scrub. This is an exfoliating treatment that takes place on a massage table covered with a sheet and a large, thin piece of plastic. As you lay on your stomach, the massage therapist rubs a mixture of sea salt, oil and aromatics like lemon into your skin. This exfoliates the skin and leaves it feeling soft and rejuvenated. So get you body treatment and skin care regimen started as soon as you can. Then you will be ready to have your skin in top shape this winter from head to toe.

Anti-Aging Tip:

Get a flat tummy in no time!

Worried that since the summer is over you will not be able to keep up your AB workout? Well, we have some new and improved ways to get your abs in the best condition they have ever been in. With these tips and some dedication, you will be ready to flaunt your new abs all year long.
First thing to having flatter abs is to try and avoid bloating with certain foods. Watch out for condiments since they are high in sodium and can leave you feeling bloated and puffy. A quarter cup of ketchup is a third of your daily sodium intake and a tablespoon of soy sauce has half a days worth of salt content! To counteract these high sodium foods, try fresh tomatoes, bananas, almonds or cherries which are high in potassium and act as a natural diuretic. It is also important to drink a lot of water. This helps flush the body of bloat causing elements such as salt. Last but not least, do not “over-exercise”. When you exercise excessively, your body can interpret that as stress - causing you to retain fluid and become constipated, which in turn leaves you feeling bloated, full and sluggish.

Now that you have the keys to minimizing a bulging belly, we can get down to the hard part which is sculpting those abs. First you can start with your basic “crunch”. Lie with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor while your fingertips are lightly touching your head and elbows are to the side. Then contract your abs and let your head, upper back and shoulders come off the floor while pretending there is an apple between chin and chest. Hold and squeeze for a moment then slowly return to starting position. Next comes the “Bicycle”. Lie face up on the floor and lace your fingers behind you head. Bring the knees in towards the chest and lift the shoulder blades off the ground trying not to pull on the neck. Straighten the left leg out to about a 45-degree angle while simultaneously turning the upper body to the right, bringing the left elbow towards the right knee. Continue alternating sides in a 'pedaling' motion.

The last exercise you can do to tone your abs is the “marine crunch”. Lie on your back with your legs raised above your hips and have your arms reaching the ceiling. Try to reach your fingertips towards your toes while lifting your tail bone off the floor. Do all three of these exercises 3 times a week doing 3 reps of 15 of each and your abs with be tighter, sleeker and more defined in no time.

Plastic Surgery Tip:

Try Radiesse Soft Tissue Fillers!

Radiesse, which was previously known as Radiance, is unlike any other Injectable filler. Radiesse is reported to be one of the longest lasting wrinkle and facial fillers on the market. Radiesse is approved by the US FDA for treating deep facial lines, wrinkles and facial folds. It is also effective at filling in facial depressions and may allow you to avoid or delay invasive plastic surgery such as a facelift. Radiesse injections contain gel with suspended microscopic calcium spheres. As the gel is absorbed over a 3 month period, your body forms a collagen structure around the spheres. It remains soft and flexible once injected and feels natural in the lips and facial lines. Radiesse has no allergy testing requirement and can be performed soon after the initial consultation with your plastic surgeon.

Radiesse is used primarily in the lines between the Nasal labial folds, upper lip, smile and frown lines, acne scars and thinning lips. Your plastic surgeon will typically inject a numbing agent into the area to be treated and then begin the injections. Any swelling that occurs lasts about 24-48 hours. Radiesse is naturally metabolized by the body and can last up to 3 - 5 years.

Make sure you chose a board certified plastic surgeon. A call to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons or ASPS at 1-888-4-PLASTIC (ie. 1-888-475-2784) can tell you which doctors are legitimate plastic surgeons with outstanding qualifications. You can also visit the ASPS web site at www.plasticsurgery.org. The ASPS is the only one of the 24 boards approved by the American Board of Medical Specialties that certifies physicians in plastic surgery of the face and all areas of the body. When considering a cosmetic surgeon, you should also make sure your surgeon is a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS). A call to ASAPS (1-888-272-7711) or visiting the ASAPS website (www.plasticsurgery.org) can help you verify your plastic surgeons membership.
