Rosacea is a skin disease that effects the face causing it to turn red, Areas such as the nose and the cheeks and where you normally blush, the tiny blood vessels in these areas enlarge (dilate) and become more visible through the skin. The cause of rosacea is unknown. Rosacea tends to affect the blush areas of the face. Mostly emotional factors (stress, fear, anxiety, and embarrassment) may trigger and aggravate the skin. Treatments involve oral and topocal medicine, oral antibiotics such as tetracycline. A topical skin antibiotic cream such as metronidazole is used to reduce the inflammation and redness. Today, real beauty comes within so go ahead and enjoy a glass of pomegranate juice everyday and share the secret to staying healthy.

Plastic Surgery Tip:

Is Board Certification Really Important?

When choosing a physician, it is important for the patient to be informed. One key element in selecting a physician is the status of the physician’s board certification. What does it mean to be board certified? Specialty certifying boards were developed to maintain and improve the quality of medical care in the US through the development of education and professional standards for evaluating and certifying physicians. Board certified simply means that the physician has completed the requirements in the specialty they choose. This generally includes graduation from an improved medical school, completion of comprehensive written and oral exam. Physicians who have successfully completed the requirements set forth by the board may be granted a certificate and are known as a diplomat of the board.

The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) is the leading organization of board certified plastic surgeons specializing in cosmetic surgery. ASAPS active member plastic surgeons are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Sam Speron is certified in both.
