Obesity is a medical condition that can lead to many other health problems. In the U.S., more than 42% of people have obesity! There are several different ways to manage obesity. This can include many weight-loss medications which have gotten very popular, but a lot of times people don’t understand how they typically work. I thought I’d provide a great little summary for you.
The generic medication is called Semaglutide. The two most popular brand names that most people hear about nowadays are Ozempic and Wegovy. They send signals to the appetite center in your brain to reduce hunger and increase fullness. This is important because this helps you feel fuller with small meals. That means you eat less and that means you snack less. Wegovy also decreases what we call 'food noise' so that you won’t be thinking about food as much or use food to try to solve your other problems!
Hope that makes sense and if you have questions, please make sure to talk to your doctor or come visit us at our Concierge Chicago weight loss clinic.
