Breast implant illness is real, don’t let your surgeon tell you it isn’t!

Breast implant illness is a collection of symptoms that occur in people with breast implants. There isn't an official medical diagnosis for it. Symptoms may include fatigue, joint pain, brain fog, dry eyes and many other health concerns. Healthcare providers diagnose it by ruling out other health conditions.

Here are some of the symptoms:

  • Chronic fatigue and headaches.
  • Persistent joint and muscle pain.
  • Unexplained respiratory difficulties.
  • Hair loss and frequent skin rashes.
  • Chronically dry mouth and eyes.
  • Poor memory and concentration.
  • Depression, anxiety, and insomnia.

The appearance of these symptoms has been reported with all types of breast implants regardless of shape or filling. Onset can be anywhere from right after to many years later. There is currently no diagnostic test specific.

Breast implant removal improves or completely resolves the symptoms in my experience. Removal should include both the implant and surrounding scar tissue.
