Do an at-home skin check-up once a month

This is a pretty simple thing you can do that can help extend your life. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. Luckily, it’s highly treatable if detected early. Do an at-home skin check-up once a month by checking your skin from hair to toes and front to back. Obviously I would recommend that you should also make sure to get a skin check up with a physician every six months. Some dermatologists see high-risk patients every month or so, but it really depends on your unique situation.

A major advantage of checking your skin every month is you're going to notice any little thing and you're going to be able to see a change quicker. If you're seeing me every six months for a skin check up, but you're checking your skin every month, you're going to catch things sooner.

What you're looking for is something that changes, whether it's the size, the color, any change at all. Anytime your skin doesn’t appear normal to you, or something has changed, you should see your Plastic surgeon or Dermatologist.

Skin cancer is most often caused by the sun, and can appear anywhere. And I mean anywhere.
