What Causes Acne?

One of the more common questions we get is what causes acne?

Acne is one of the most common skin conditions, and at some point in our lives, we’ve all had it.

Why does acne happen? What causes acne? Acne typically happens when hair follicles under the skin become clogged. There’s an oil that your skin makes to prevent it from drying out, called sebum. If you have dead skin cells and they plug these pores, then you can have an outbreak of pimples or zits.

There are some other things that can trigger acne like hormone changes which make your skin greasy, oily cosmetics and hair products especially if you don’t clean them off, certain drugs such as steroids, estrogen, testosterone, etc., heavy sweating, humidity, and excessively touching or rubbing your skin.

So, if you have acne and need some help, please set up a free virtual consultation with Dr. Speron‘s medical aestheticians aestheticians. They can help you with your acne. You don’t have to just live with it.
